There is no headquarters hotel for the meeting, since many people have personal preferences for hotels in Las Vegas. La Quinta, Candlewood Suites, Atrium Suites, The Westin and Bally's are about a mile away, toward the strip. The Hard Rock Casino and Hotel is also near. Fairfield Inn, Best Western, Embassy Suites, etc. are all available near the museum. Once you get to the strip, the Flamingo, the Paris, Planet Hollywood (formerly the Aladdin), the Imperial Palace, Caesar's Palace, Bellagio, the Mirage, and Treasure Island are all near Flamingo Road. There is city bus service on Flamingo Road, so those without a car could easily get to the museum without walking far. McCarran Airport is located a very short taxi ride away, so again a car is not necessary. (It should be noted that the mega-sized hotels may appear to be close together - but they can be a long walk apart !) The best hotel rates might be found online with an airline/hotel package. If you need help with hotel selection, contact meeting host and Las Vegas resident Richard Davis at cyberengineer@earthlink.net Go to: My Travel Guide for maps and information about hotels near the museum. MapQuest.com also can show you maps of the museum area and nearby hotels. |
