THE OUGHTRED SOCIETY WINTER MEETING
This Year in Tucson, Arizona

You are invited to attend the Oughtred Society Annual West Coast Winter Meeting, to be held for the first time in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the world-renowned Pima Air and Space Museum.

The Pima Air & Space Museum is one of the largest air and space museums in the world, and the largest non-government funded aviation museum. You'll see more than 300 aircraft and spacecraft including many of the most historically significant and technically advanced aircraft ever produced, both from the United States and throughout the world. Where else can you walk beneath a B-29, a B-36 or even a B-52! You name it and Pima will have it!

The host hotel is at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel - Reid Park in Tucson. Some rooms are being held for the OS group at the DoubleTree at a rate of $119 per night (reduced from $159 per night) for the nights of Feb. 15 and 16. Same rate for double or single occupancy. After January 16 rooms are subject to availability at the higher rate. Hotel rooms in Tucson can be hard to find during the gem and mineral show, especially in this area of town, so we recommendreserving your room early. If you want to stay in Tucson that weekend, please call the hotel to make your reservations and tell them you are with The Oughtred Society to get the reduced rate.

This year to encourage student participation a special student registration of $10/person will be available for high school and college students (no table will be provided, student ID required). Bill Robinson plans to give a talk about his role in the design of the Boeing B-47 and B-52 wing designs.

An afternoon auction will be held with 100's of slide rule bargains to be had! Non-members are encouraged to attend for the same registration fee. Only one registration is required per group (spouses and family members are free). Tickets to the Pima Air & Space Museum are included. In addition an afternoon tram tour of the museum grounds will be provided (1 ticket per registered guest, additional tram tickets may be purchased for $5.50 each).

Circle your calendars and plan on that family mini-vacation to the winter sun of Tucson, where the average high and low temperatures in February are 67.8 °F. and 41 °F! This most interesting location has many sites to see and experience. To list a few:

If you are a golfer, there are a number of premium golf courses, and if you like to hike, many good hiking trails are in the area too. A map will be provided for all registrants with the various sites marked. More details and registration information will be forthcoming. Meeting hosts: Martha Prince and Richard Davis. For questions contact [please ignore spam filter return email]: cyberengineer[at]earthlink.net

This meeting is open to Oughtred Society members, non-members and students. You do not need to be a member of The Oughtred Society to attend.

The meeting will feature displays of slide rule collections, an auction, buying, selling and swapping, and the opportunity to meet and talk with fellow slide rule enthusiasts.

All attendees are encouraged to bring slide rules and/or calculators to display and to sell or trade. Five foot tables are furnished for the $35 registration fee.

Plan now to attend and enjoy some fun and sun vacation days in Tucson!
